As a guest at Bluewater, you may never realise that there is a large chaplaincy team walking the malls, and that’s simply because their ministry is mainly with the staff. There are thousands of staff members at Bluewater and the chaplaincy team is there to provide support – caring, confidential and impartial – to all of them.
The new Lead Chaplain, Ella Sibley, took up her post in August of this year and leads a team of volunteer chaplains as they provide pastoral care in the centre. We asked her why she became a chaplain, and she responded: “Many who aren’t at Church on a Sunday morning, are at work on a Monday morning – Chaplaincy is a way of reaching out to them and showing that God is at work beyond the walls of the church; the support chaplains provide makes known God’s love in the world. It’s exciting to be a part of that.”
Do you think God might be calling you to chaplaincy? Get in touch with Ella on 01322 623397 or at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested in volunteering with the Bluewater Chaplaincy team.
